A great read, the best part is that I’m left with so much to think and wonder about. There is so much to unpack now, which is a stark contrast from the information I previously had been delivered - just an awful story about a ‘serial killer.’ But now…there is so much more.
Thanks so much for reading! It's an awful story. I'll admit my first reaction was that Letby did it. I had some sympathy, in that I thought she was an utterly destroyed person, but I still figured she was guilty. After looking at it just a little I realized there was no evidence whatsoever. It's creepy what the 'news' and salacious tales can do to us... The Private Eye report I linked in footnotes is revealing, too. Thanks again for your comment! Means alot to me.
With America in the throes of Uber Alles posturing, non-stop chaotic lying, and eroding the legal system, its an interesting contrast to hear about injustice in our legal parent country. I think this kind of knuckle-headed rush to judgment without benefit of common sense or basic statistical understanding happens here too, and currently seems the gooey center of every partisan lie to gin up outrage. I hope Lucy finds justice and her superiors, jail time.
It really does. The prosecuting barrister claimed it took him 10 minutes to decide on Letby's guilt, which means he must think he has psychic abilities. He also has no medical expertise whatsoever. Against this, we have the panels and the fact of earlier cases which looked as cut and dried but proved to be horrible accidents. There does not seem to be any kind of evidence, either eyewitness not in the autopsies conducted, that Letby was anyway involved or that any intentional malfeasance took place. Very weird. And alas, it may ruin her life no matter the verdict.
Thanks so much for your thoughts and for dropping a line! Much appreciated as always!
Excellent article, and a good reminder that a scapegoat class is the balm sought by the more dominant population to temper accusations more obviously applicable to themselves.
On a side topic, can you please explain the adjective "Crohnic" as you use it? Or as anyone might?

ah, the crispy death rattle of the patriarchy.
It's a long drawn out clatter indeed...

Thanks so much! The Chrohnic thing is kinda silly- --as in Crohn's Disease. I was trying to have fun with such a dark subject. It's my neologism.
I thought it might. Just wanted to make sure my own silliness in interpretation was going to be warranted!
As in here: https://www.private-eye.co.uk/eyeplayer/play/491
Just heard the interview. Great. Really interesting. The whole special report: https://www.private-eye.co.uk/special-reports/lucy-letby
Martin, have you read any of MD's articles about the Lucy Letby case in Private Eye? I think there may be some on-line at private-eye.co.uk
No, but I'm going to now! Thanks comrade!
